The United States' most populous city, and one of the largest financial, cultural, and economic centers in the world, New York City is the largest city in New York. The Big Apple is just waiting for you to take a bite...

Composed of 5 boroughs -- Manhattan, Queens, The Bronx, Brooklyn, and Staten Island -- New York City spans a land area of 321 square miles, but boasts the largest population in the nation.

Often referred to as a melting pot, New York city is one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse regions in the world. From the skyscrapers that comprise the famous skyline to the subway system below the streets, New York City has a lot to offer. Shopping, museums, fine dining, performing arts, history and more await any visitor of the Big Apple, and some of the best known icons of the American Way and the American Dream reside here. The Flatiron Building and the Empire State Building are other must-see destinations for any who visit. Perhaps one of the most well-known American icons, the Statue of Liberty, lies in New York City's harbor, and is a must-visit for anyone who comes to New York.

In New York City can also be found representatives from all over the world, from the United Nations to the various ethnic neighborhoods in any of the boroughs. Ellis Island, the gateway to the United States, saw several million refugees from the Europe during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It now bears a museum and stands as a monument to those who sought the American dream.

In the "City that Never Sleeps" it isn't hard to find places to spend the late hours of the night. Bars and clubs can be found scattered through the boroughs, and feature any atmosphere you can imagine, from swanky to warehouse clubs and from Irish pubs to Wall Street bars, you are sure to find something to your taste.

Put your walking shoes on and prepare for more shops than you can possibly visit in one day. From the famed Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenues to SoHo, the biggest problem may be where to start. If all that shopping wages its war on your body, don't fret - New York City is the mecca of the world of spa, massage, and other forms of relaxation.

NYC is also home to many professional sports teams. The New York Knicks play their home games at the famed Madison Square Garden, while the "House that Ruth Built," Yankee Stadium is the home locale for the world-famous New York Yankees. Other local sports teams include the New York Rangers, New York Islanders, New York Mets and the NFL's New York Jets and New York Giants play just a few miles from the city. If you are more of a doer than a watcher, test out your golf skills on the Bethpage State Park Black Course or one of the many golf courses found around the city.

It may seem hard to believe when looking up at the skyscrapers that define the city, that one of the biggest draws to NYC is a park. Central Park, located just steps from Fifth Avenue, is home to the Central Park Zoo, and draws thousands of people per day to play in the Park.

Excitement and wonder await in the urban jungle of New York, come and explore!
